FIT FOR REPURPOSE! - LET'S GET HOPPING

A few months back, my friend Jennifer Frost took the "leap" (see what I did there?) and created a fantastic group on Facebook for people wanting to learn more about blogging.  While I have been blogging for many years now, I have leant a few things I didn't know!  If you want to know more about this group, then visit Jenn's blog HERE.

Once you have a blog, then why not join in a blog hop!  And that's just what 10 of us are doing today.  Our theme is "Gift Jars", any kind!  You may have just come from Tracy Bish, or you may be starting with me.  Just make sure you select the "next" button at the end of the post to continue on the hop!

I love this little jar.  It reminds me of the local Dairy when I was a kid, that used to have rows of these jars stocked full of eye catching lollies!  It doesn't sit flat, but rather, on an angle, making it easier to get your mitts in there!  I filled mine with peppermints, my Sweethearts favourites!  To decorate it up as a gift, I simply add ribbon and a small piece of DSP.

No gift jar would be complete without a coordinating card to go with it.  I have used the same ribbons and DSP on my card that I used on the jar. I am really loving this monotone look at the moment.

For more gift jar ideas, please click on the "next" button below and continue on the hop with your next stop, Eva Pottsova.

GARDEN GIRL - BLENDED

I can't keep this under my hat!  I am in love with my new Stampin' Blends!!  These alcohol markers are so lovely to use.  Available only to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators at the moment, I want to get plenty of practice in before they are released to our loyal customers.  While we don't have a release date just yet, I have every confidence it won't be too far away!

When the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual catalogue was released back in June, I purchased this cute Garden Girl stamp set with colouring in mind.  It has sat on my shelf ever since while other things have taken priority.  When my order of Stampin' Blends arrived, I got that set down, dusted it off and made this card........

Now, I am no alcohol marker artist, but even I am delighted with how this card turned out! I used Shimmery white cardstock to colour on, although, in hindsight, I think Whisper White Original would have worked better.  I am still playing, so the dury is out on that one.

Blends come in a Dark and a Light pen of the same colour, with 12 colours available, plus a Colour Lifter, Bronze and Ivory for skin tones.  I used the Light Pool Party to colour the sky.  It coloured beautifully, with no lines showing for smooth coverage.  I used the Dark and Light Old Olive markers for the grass, using a flicking motion to create the blades of grass.

I stamped Garden Girl on a separate scrap of card before colouring in.  I wanted to see how different colours blended together and used four different colours in her hair!  They all played together nicely!
The Colour lifter was the star of the show for me.  I used it to create the texture on her denim dress and to create a lighter blue than the Light pen gave me.  I also used it to add highlights on her gumboots, on the carrot, the basket and on her chin.  After fussy cutting the image, I popped it up on Dimensionals, after first stamping my greeting on the card front.

What can I say except that I am totally impressed with the new Stampin' Blends.  They are easy to use and the colours all blend well.  It's been a long time coming, but I am excited and can't wait til I can get them in your hands too!  In the meantime, everything else I have used you can purchase now!  Just click on the product photo's below to go to my online store.  Don't forget to use this months Host Code for more rewards!

PAINTED HARVEST - STAMP TO SHARE

I can't believe another month has gone by and the Stamp to Share Design Team are hoping together again already!  This month, we bring you Painted Harvest inspiration!  You may have just arrived here from the amazing design talent that is Sandi MacIver, or you may just be starting here.  Hit the "next" button at the end of the post to continue on the hop.

I have taken a Sunflower and made it into a Gerbera.  Maybe not a perfect Gerbera, but you can use your imagination here!  A dear friend lost her Mum to Alzheimer's recently and Gerbera's were her favourite flower.  When creating this Sympathy card for the family it was important to me to have something she loved on the card.  I hope when they look at it, they do so with smiles on their faces.

How did I get the dark green ring around the flower centre?  I used an old favourite technique - Rock n' Roll!  Using a light and dark ink in the same colour range, in this case, green, ink up your stamp in your light colour.  Then with the dark ink, just "roll" the edge of the stamp image around on the pad, without inking the centre of the image, then stamp.  It is that easy.  To complete my card (it was hard to photograph) I have placed three small pearls in the centre of each flower.  Did you know Pearls are known for their calming effect?  I hope these ones work their magic for my friend.

Thanks for hopping with me!  Next up is the lovely Barbara Becker from Austria!

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY BLOG HOP 2017

Thank you for joining me on this World Card Making Day Blog Hop!  You may have just arrived here from the fabulous Kelly Kent in Australia.  I have no doubt you have been totally inspired by her, as I normally am!  Today is World Card Making Day and I am joined by a fabulous group of demonstrators from around the world to bring you this wonderful blog hop.  World Card Making Day is all about giving the gift of a card, no matter the occasion.  But don't just wait for this one day!  I hope we can inspire you to brighten somebodys day more regularly!

There are a few cards that I don't normally have a big stash of, if any on hand at all, and on that list of cards is Baby cards!  I have just returned home from a weekend of teaching all about embossing paste and felt totally inspired to use it on a baby card today.  I selected the fabulous cloud mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks pack to use as my background.  I adore the dimensional look the embossing paste gives to the clouds!

We all know that babies are delivered by Storks, right?  I have used the Stork image from the Hostess set, In The City, and added a bit of fanfare with the fireworks to herald in our wee one.  So cute!

Next up on the World Card Making Day Blog Hop is the very talented Lee Conrey.  Just click the "next" button below to go visit!
